WHO OWNS THE TEST AND WHO WRITE THE TEST?
TOEFL is owned by ETS and is written by students and workers who would like to continue their studies or work abroad.
WHY ARE THERE TWO VERSIONS OF TOEFL?
‘TOEFL has two versions, TOEFL ibt (internet based) and TOEFL pbt (paper based). However, only TOEFL ibt is written in Cameroon. The TOEFL ibt has been set up for computer skilled students.
WHAT IS THE TOEFL FORMAT AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?’
‘TOEFL has four parts – Listening (1 hour), Reading (1 hour), Writing (1 hour) and Speaking (20 minutes). The total test time is approximately 4 hours. The Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing tests are done in one sitting with 10 minutes break after the two first sections. Its validity is 2 years after the official results.
WHEN AND WHERE CAN I TAKE TOEFL?
TOEFL is available on 70 fixed dates a year – up to four times a month, depending on local demand and can be taken in Douala, Yaounde and soon in Buea.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
- Online Registration fee: 150,000 FCFA from January 2017
- Text book: 5,000 FCFA
- CD: 5,000 FCFA.
- Classes + materials: Prices depend on the period of classes: 2 weeks: 45,000 FCFA – Buea Branch; 65,000 FCFA – Douala Branch with 2 sample tests and 4 weeks: 75,000 FCFA – Buea Branch ; 105,000 FCFA – Douala Branch with 2 sample tests.
