The TFI test provides an international standard for measuring the ability to communicate in
French at independent and advanced levels (CEFR: A2-C1). The test uses everyday
vocabulary, key phrases and expressions, and real-world situations. Test results
The TFI test is a paper-and-pencil, multiple-choice test that lasts approximately two and a half
hours. The test consists of two sections of 90 questions each. You will have 42 minutes to
complete the Listening section and 68 minutes for the Reading section.
The TFI assessment is divided into two parts:
-Listening: 42 minutes
Candidates listen to a variety of questions and answers, short dialogues and presentations
recorded in French and respond to questions based on what they have heard. This part has
three parts:
Section I: Questions (40 Questions)
Section II: Dialogues (30 Questions)
Section III: Conversations (20 Questions)
-Reading Comprehension: 68 minutes
Candidates read a variety of documents and answer questions based on what they have read.
This part has three sections:
Section IV: Error Identification (25 Questions)
Section V: Incomplete Sentences (25 Questions)
Section VI: Single Passages (40 Questions)
TOTAL LENGTH- 1 Hour 50 Minutes
Scores
The Listening Comprehension and Reading Comprehension scores together give a total test
score on a scale ranging from 10 to 990 points (5 to 495 points for each section).
